I am very curious to see how Hypixel's proxy is handling so many people online? I mean, I am sure they are using either Waterfall or Bungeecord (or maybe a self-made proxy). It is mind-blowing how many people are playing at peak hours.
My idea of how their proxy works:
1. The main proxy connects you to the MAIN LOBBY (the servers which begging with L);
2. From the MAIN LOBBY people can connect to MINIGAMES LOBBIES (like BW-lobby, SW-lobby, etc..)
