Dying on round 30 when I'm by myself in zombies

I don't play solo from the start (I should give it a go!) which is why I didn't say solo run in the title. However, I do end up by myself in between rounds 20-30 from everyone leaving. I've gotten to 29 quite a few times only to die to the Broodmother at the end because the puncher knockback only registers half the time when I ty to hit the boss away.
