Hey everyone,
A while back, a friend of mine built a plugin which I decided I wanted to add to my latest server running 1.17.1 Paper. I grabbed the .jar file hoping that there would be some backwards compatibility, but there wasn't. 0 plugins detected. I opened it up and checked the .yml and sure enough, it was built for 1.13. I should have thought of that first! Now, My initial instinct was to just say "hey, why not edit the API version and compress it back into a .jar and trick the server?" but obviously that isn't going to work thinking about it now.
Since his GitHub repo does have the entire IntelliJ project on it, I could try to rebuild the whole thing, but my knowledge of Java just isn't what it used to be back when I was in high school obsessed with this kinda stuff. Does anyone know if there are any backwards compatibility workarounds for older plugins? It may just well be that it isn't compatible with Paper since it was built for an earlier Spigot version.
